I own a JVC old european TV and a fire stick tv lite. I used to have a TV in my room and connect it to my desktp PC with an HDMI cable but I removed the telly in order to have more space.
In my living room I have this JVC TV I can use, but I doubt there’s much I can do on it.
One solution would be to buy a laptop with HDMI port, but that’s expensive for me right now. My old laptop doesn’t have any port.
What would be the best solution to watch movies and tv shows on the TV?
I think stremio on the fire tv stick is the best approach: begib with this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWHhSzQyX4Q and then https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/17833ms/stremio_all_you_need_to_know/
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

I’m open-source; check me out at GitHub.
I haven’t checked the guide out yet, but I thought stremio kn mobile didn’t support addons (torrentio)
It does, but you have to install them on other device, then open Stremio on mobile.
You can install addons directly on your android de hice. They do sync across devices, which is nice
Streamio is awesome. Wicked easy to use.
You wouldn’t want a laptop for that. A cheap “mini PC” would be the more appropriate choice. Shop around, you can probably find a second-hand or refurbished one with an hdmi port for under $100.
If your old laptop has a VGA port, you can get a VGA to HDMI adapter (with audio). Something like this (double check they support audio and have correct male/female ports since they are directional).
this may be the easier solution, I’ll check my laptop when I’m at home
SMB share on your desktop, connect to that from your fire stick or a Chromecast TV or something, stream files that you already have on your desktop wirelessly
smb share so kodi on fire stick tv?
I mean I use VLC on my Chromecast but Kodi might work too
Jellyfin or another DLNA capable server if the TV comes with a DLNA/UPnP player?
If the TV has an ethernet port you could connect it to your LAN then stream from your PC with plex or jellyfin.
Or you could just get a really long HDMI cable to reach your PC (I think you can go up to 20 metres).
the tv must support jellyfin/plex though right?
If you cannot install Plex or Jellyfin on the TV, a streaming device can be added.
You can also build your own streaming device with Kodi. An old laptop would work if you don’t have the means otherwise.
Use a firestick or Roku on the TV. I have a brand new TV and still don’t use the smart features on it because they’re generally not very good compared to one of these streaming sticks.
Yes.
Like Coper said, Stremio, (realdebrid, torrentio) is the way to go and should work on your firestick
Real debrid is dirt cheap and you get loyalty points. 1000 points is a month extra.
