Context: The Hubble Space Telescope had a manufacturing defect in the primary mirror, and produced blurry images until a Space Shuttle service mission performed repairs.
I remember every media outlet making some statement about “Hubble is getting glasses” back then.
This is also why a lot of people were extremely nervous about the JWST launch, since a service mission would’ve been impossible for it.
