    Can we stop calling it “slept with a 17 year old”? It’s statutory rape of a minor. He paid an underage prostitute with venmo, the case would be a slam dunk if anyone on the prosecuting side tried.

      We, progressive-minded people, certainly can and will. But this is a quote from a Republican politician. Can’t rightly expect them to get two things right at once.

        Would it maintain the journalistic integrity and accuracy of the quote by wording it as “because he [raped] a 17 year-old.”? There are certain circumstances in which such substitutions are permitted, for instance when one would not wish to repeat a slur verbatim.
