“Those voters do not want to have a conversation about Brexit,” said Joshua Simons, the director of Labour Together, a think-tank close to Labour leadership. How dare they prioritise one group of voters over all others?
Ellwood thinks that the election will bring release and hope: “I can see all parties embracing the idea of rejoining the single market… I put money on it that it happens in the next five years.” After so many years of Brexit thought compliance, will this country be in a fit state to take such big steps? I don’t think so.

I couldn’t agree more.
The only condition I would add to their come back is a mandatory adoption of the Euro currency.
You want to enter the European market, you play by its rules.
That seems fair. Might make it a little more difficult to leave on a whim, too.
And if they’ll get the princess of the EU treatment again I’m strictly against rejoining.
I think 70% is a bit much, 2/3 majority or 60-40 seems more achievable.
My understanding is brexit has harmed both the EU and the UK, by the obvious virtue of the EU becoming smaller and the whole point is being a big economic bloc, but I don’t see the harm now after they’ve already ruined that.
So what gets destroyed if they were to come back at 51% and then pull a brexit 2?
You mean besides the absurdly high cost for the preparation, changes in border checks, negotiations and whatever else? It was fucking exhausting.
I didn’t think of that, that’s exactly what I was asking. Thank you. Sounds absolutely miserable.
Because Europe is not a fucking mill that can be quit or joined out of a whim.
American; just got back from a trip around Northern EU and British Isles. Never understood Brexit. Trade is vital, as is tourism. When traveling, I love every place and every people, but as a practical matter changing from Euro to Pound just doesn’t work out. Less funds flow into UK because of the friction on currency alone - your people on the ground, such as coach guides and restaurants, lose money because of this.
You caught the same damn media/social/political disease that America did, or maybe we caught it from you. Hey, let’s convince ourselves that shooting oneself in the foot leads to a better economy by stimulating the prosthetics industry. It is probably too late for us but for the sake of Pete follow the money and wise up. Or to use a meme that is old but checks out sir: delete Facebook, lawyer up, and hit the gym.
Weird how people in Britain aren’t protesting… https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/police-powers-ban-protest-laws-suella-braverman/
Some of the biggest protests ever seen in the UK have been pro-remain outrage at what has been happening here recently:

I’m so sick of hearing about brexit!
The only reason brexit is a failure is if you believed the government that things would be better! I’m going to bet the government is loving all the infighting of brexit this, brexit that and blaming voters and not the government for the mess!
If the government wanted brexit to work, they would’ve made it work! Stop blaming voters/society for the mistakes of governments!
Sadly people are clearly being brainwashed to just do as there told and not look at what the government does but its ok, because they will definitely not allow rich idiots to abuse AI and robots to decimate everyones job so people all starve or live a life of misery! 🙄🤦♂️😎
If the government wanted brexit to work, they would’ve made it work!
In your opinion, in what way could this have been made to work, if the government had done everything right?
I’m in the EU but not UK, and I can’t see any possible way that Brexit could have been overall better for England no matter what the government did.
I mean they could have screwed up a little less, but it was never gonna work like they promised.
So what exactly should a community titled /c/brexit talk about if not brexit?
You are spare parts, bud.
