Take the word gun out of your story, and you get the same story in most other places with knives, swords, etc.

Mental illness, coupled with a disregard for the value of human life, leads to these situations. Yet, nobody will do a damn thing about that. One article I read stated that the suspect was told by voices in his head, and he wanted to go to jail to get his head straight. The tool wouldn’t have mattered in that situation.

A nearly identical situation happened a week or two ago with a knife and a priest.

I’m not gambling on a gun failing to fire when I’m keeping my distance from a knife wielding guy unless he throws it in a misleading way. A sword I’m probably still fucked though.

Yes, just like the time someone brought a sword into a school and killed dozens. It’s those semi-automatic large clip swords.

I’m sure it has, but the scale and frequency is not at all comparable. I’m sure people have killed other people with a bucket.

          And yes, it was sarcasm.

You don’t take into consideration that it takes stronger intent and a special kind of fucked up person to want to get physical and stab someone when shooting removes that personal element. Not to mention you have a better chance running away
