The clock indicates this is either shortly after 10am or pm, which implies this is either an early morning stand-up meeting showing what he’s been working on or they stayed late at the office to work hard on this problem.
I imagine it would 've taken quite a bit of testing, trial and error, before they felt confident enough to demonstrate their findings in front of their fellow scientists. My vote is for ten o’clock in the evening.
