I’m still holding out for a 10,000 piece Sagrada Familia
Isn’t there a 100k piece Notre Dame MOC?
Washington National Cathedral will be about 500k when complete.
2024 Olympic Games of Paris seem like a good opportunity to sell souvenirs made of Lego
I saw the Mona Lisa set earlier today and it was getting absolutely wrecked in the comments. I don’t know what Lego has been doing lately but I don’t like it at all.
I really liked the wave and starry night sets, I hope they go back to making more sets like those
I also have and love both those sets, but they have been pumping out a not insignificant number of stinkers lately, and it only seems to be getting worse.
Is the Notre-Dame de Paris the first time since 1957 that Lego has made a set with a direct and specific religious basis? Not counting Advent calendars or Indiana Jones [edit: or Thor] sets. As far as I can tell at the moment, 1309 Church was the one and only religion-based set. I don’t think the Taj Mahal sets would qualify since the building seems to just a mausoleum and not a temple per se?
It’ll be interesting to see how it does. I personally have zero interest in spending a shit pile of money to have a massive Catholic Church in my place. I’d be willing to bet it will make more people who are interested in this sort of set decide to get something else than it will attract people who wouldn’t get this sort of set decide to get it

I can understand where you are coming from, and have a hypothetical question: If the church were to be sold to a secular organization, would that affect your interest in the Lego set?
In the future, will it be possible to appreciate churches purely for their architecture, or will they always be “tainted” in some way?
It’s an interesting question. For me personally, there will always be some level of taint. But we all also have our own tolerances
So something like
net-value = value - (taintedness - tolerance)
and the higher the net value, the more likely I’ll buyLike, Sagrada Familia to me has an incredible value because of how crazy the architecture is and how crazy it would be as a lego build. Still has a decent amount of taintedness cause catholic and my tolerance for catholic stuff is low.
But U.S. Air Force Academy Chapel in CO is a dope looking building so a high value. It does have catholic chapels but also has many different other chapels, which I think overall reduces the taintedness over a straight up catholic churches.
I guess you could count 10189/10256 Taj Mahal from 2008/2017.
A cynical person could also say Jabbas Palace 9516 🤭Jabba is a religious figure?
No but the (Austrian?) Muslim community made a fuzz and wanted the set banned since it reminded them of a mosque and had guns which was an association they obviously didn’t want
Monkey Christ Lego set when??
Mona Lisa apparently delayed already
That roof is inaccurate
I think the Mona Lisa one is interesting. It looks more like a mosaic than a “Lego painting” which I kind of like.
Also the frame looks really pretty imo.
