Guy seemed to forget he was the community manager. Of course you’re going to get sacked when you use your position in the company to tell people to refund and leave a bad review for the place you work for.

While you’re not wrong, I think it’s still important to give the guy respect for telling people a way to make an effective statement for something they wanted.

He absolutely risked his job but he did it to help the community, that earns my respect for sure.

Oh yeah, massive props for the guy for what he did. I’m sure he had some idea that he was crossing a line with those comments and made them anyway. But still, he was the community manager and “hey guys, refund this game” surely wasn’t how Sony wanted their community to be managed.

I disagree. The bad reviews and refunds produced, effectively, a single bad week for the company, while getting the publisher to backtrack on a decision that would have slowly but surely killed both the game and the company. Spitz saved Arrowhead. Unfortunately, instead of capitalising on the cooperation between developers and players to win back their reputations and make the game profitable again, Arrowhead decided to throw away Spitz’ hard work by firing him, ruining their reputation just after he saved it for them. Now they’re fucked.

The way I see it, their only chance to return to profitability is for them to explain that Spitz was fired for his earlier comments mocking players for complaining about PSN. If they did that, the players would return to Arrowhead’s side. But if the narrative that he was fired for sticking with the players and saving the company prevails, then Arrowhead is doomed.

Not only did he manage the community he straight up leveraged it for the betterment of the studio.

Could be wrong but I don’t believe it was arrowheads decision to let him go.

Spitz himself implied Sony was very unhappy with what he said.

This site is an awful source. Seems to be a mouthpiece for the Gamergate 2.0 shit.
