    They really need to stop using the word recall for this type of thing.

      Agreed. Recall needs to mean “brings car to physical location for service”.

      Anything else can be a software update.

      I agree with this change though unless the icons are localized for language having warning indicators in a different language than you speak might be confusing.

      That said there are only a handful of symbols which are probably universally known. The check engine light is not one of them.

      Yeah, software updates should probably be in a different category.

      “Tesla recalls its recall” is rather amusing though.
