A mother in Winnipeg is sharing video of police threatening her with arrest and swearing at her in her home.

A mother in Winnipeg says a confrontation with police has left her and her family shaken.

Charity Tom, who is Sayisi Dene, says on May 21 at around 4:00 a.m., she awoke to the sound of banging on her door. It was the Winnipeg police.

An officer told her they received a call about an unsupervised child roaming outside. Tom told officers they had the wrong house and that her children were sleeping inside.

Tom said a few minutes later, police officers knocked again and then entered the house.

Now multiple police are entering the house. One is struggling with Tom.

Police: Get up. What’s your name?

Police: You wanna get the cuffs?

Charity: No, I just told you

Police: So then stop acting like a c*nt

    For anyone that doesn’t really know, police terrorize aboriginals. Like literally terrorize them. Some of the worst atrocities are committed by police against them.

    For now, Tom has chosen not to report the incident, citing fear of the police.

    Out of this awful situation, I think this is the saddest part. I don’t blame her and think her fear of the police is well placed. It’s just so sad that even in such a clear case of police misconduct, with video evidence, she still doesn’t feel safe reporting it.

      The call was (supposedly) about an unattended two-year-old outside at 4 am. I don’t think that’s the questionable part of this story.

      I think it was less about a kid being outside and more about an unsupervised kid outside at 4 am. Not justifying the cops actions just clarifying the circumstance.
