Spending all day everyday on bike saddle puts a special emphasis on comfort. Share your trusty favorites! (And why not the ones that didn’t work too)
So my background is road/gravel, but I do touring on the same bike (3T exploro). Absolutely hated the Fizik stock saddle. Proceded to do some research amd found SQ labs (SQlab 612 Ergowave Active), who apparently design saddles in cooperation with a urologist (to, you know, protect the crown jewels). It was a total gamechanger. Never had a bit of pain or numb feeling, not even once. No break-in period. Not making publicity either, I just really really love it. NB: it is a lot uglier than anything by brooks, but once I’m sitting on it I dont care.
Edit: I may be preaching to the choir here, but one cannot stress enough how important it is to do a good measurement of your sitting bones when buying a saddle. This is even more important for female riders, as the sitting bones are oftentimes wider apart. Your local bike shop can help you with this and it is most definitely worth the hassle.
To add to this, you can order a free measuring set from SQL Labs online. It’s really free! It’s basically just a cardboard that you sit on and then measure the distance between the two indents but still nice
Ohh and they ship it to a lot of places where they won’t ship normal orders. I got one coming, thanks for the tip!
My least favorite and favorite is my brooks b17. Took me quite a bit to ride it in, which was kinda painful and i don’t think i’d want to go through that process again.
Now it’s great and i hope it’ll last me for a long time. If i were to buy a new saddle i’d try the c17 so i wouldn’t have to ride it in and not worry about water proofness, that is also a bit annoying.
Having said that, i never had trouble with any saddle really, even cheap gel ones worked for me.
My b17 still kinda new. It feels good though. Maybe 150 miles so far? I felt pressure on my seat bones while riding at start, but I wouldnt describe as painful, and it never persisted as soon as I was off the bike. Its taken on a bit of shape now and thats all stopped it feels good

I started out with Brooks C15 Carved. Had a love hate relationship with it, but after two weeks I decided that it’s just too hard. For me just unusable without padded trousers. Liked the flex though! Would never recommend the uncarved versions.
Now I’m still on the lookout and really considering if I should believe what everyone says about Brooks leather saddles… Has anyone got experiences about B17 vs Flyer? (The version with springs in the back)
Took me about a 1000 km until it got comfortable. Was about to give up really.
Big fan of the Selle SMP series, they’re great for my wide hips, waterproof and comfortable. Rode mine from SF down to Santa Barbara back in 2019, still have it and commute with it almost daily.
