I have been lurking on Reddit for 5 years with only one follower. In last 5 days, I got 6 followers out of nowhere. Do anyone living same thing? Could Reddit have fallen that far? Also, when I look at my follower list, I still have that one loyal follower.
I hope I’m not doing conspiracy theory.
They’re all bots. Look at the names. They likely all follow the same weird pattern of nonsensical words.
As I know, that is auto generated username by Reddit. But you are probably right about they are bots.
I get lots of NSFW-followers, who then turn out to have been banned / deleted.
I wouldn’t know, because I have not once opened new reddit, old.reddit doesn’t show followers, and I am banned anyway so haven’t visited the site in weeks.
It’s an open secret that reddit tacitly allows bots that generate engagement on the site, so most all the followers are probably just random bots, either reddit-run or no.
Yeah I’ve been getting about 1 a day. All clearly devised to be attractive to my demographic.
But also clearly bots.
Not sure what’s the best /most fun thing to do with it though.
Edit: all of them have apparently been taken down. So maybe not a reddit-devised scheme.
I don’t even have “online status” enabled, so I don’t have follows, but saw someone who have it, and it was mostly girls to promote their onlyfans page or something like it.

Yes, all from brand-new, zero-karma accounts with what appear to be auto-generated usernames.
I have no idea how you even find that out. I’ve been using old.reddit/RiF always and I’m clueless about all those features.
I had all that disabled, so I have no idea if anyone was ever following me. And I deleted my rif app on the 11th haven’t been on Reddit since, so I will never know.
