Valve made Half Life, TF2, DOTA2, Portal, etc. Each game is a giant in its field and has made Valve popular. Hi Rez has made… problems for existing fans of Tribes.

When Hi-Rez can compete in the same league as Valve, then their words have value. For now it’s peewee league mad at varsity for being too good.

Also, Steam/Valve helps make Linux gaming possible. Hi-rez doesn’t do Linux support. Can’t play their games even if I wanted to.

      Assholes can be right.

Don’t play this ‘where’s your Bugatti?’ ad hominem.

“Your games aren’t as good, so your opinion is invalid” is definitely a take.

Oh Hi-Rez you trash company. You ruined one of my favorite franchises of all time, not once, but twice with Tribes Ascend, and Tribes 3.

While Chism may be a worthless leech, he isn’t completely wrong. Valve’s ownership of Steam does put it in a privileged position, which could be abused in a lot of anti-competitive ways. The fact that it isn’t doing that is really only because GabeN isn’t the same type of leech which Chism is. He’s what a lot of people seem to want, a benevolent dictator. That said, when he finally kicks the bucket, or gets tired and sells the company, the future direction of Steam would be an open question. There may be a very good argument for Valve to be put under the microscope of the FTC for possible anti-trust breakup.

I agree but steam might as well be at the back of list for breaking up monopolies. Microsoft should be one of the first but we know that isn’t going to happen so there isn’t much of a point of letting Microsoft do whatever and going after steam it’s main competition in the gaming space.

How does Hi-Rez even still exist when they have never made a single decent game?

I remember when they tried releasing Global Agenda with a monthly paid subscription. It was shit and no one played it so they switched to no subscription within a year (here’s when I got suckered into buying it), but it was still shit and no one played it so it went free to play within another year.

How do you exist as a company for this long with that as your foundation?

‘It’s Remedy’s own fault Alan Wake II isn’t selling well - they’re not on Steam! Not being on Steam means you might as well not exist for the majority of customers.’

Right, they’re a de facto monopoly.

    ‘How dare you.’
