OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma’s top education official ordered public schools Thursday to incorporate the Bible into lessons for grades 5 through 12, the latest effort by conservatives to incorporate religion into classrooms.

This is all a blatant attempt to rile up the Right. They know this BS is unconstitutional and start the crap just in time for the inevitable court cases to strike then down around voting time. It’s all about getting that outrage boiling

Taking the fight all the way to the Supreme Court (where they should lose) costs money. The idiot voters that support this nonsense are sacrificing everyone’s tax dollars to this altar. Meanwhile they don’t have funds to pave roads, etc.

At first I thought, nah, they sincerely believe it’s best and would love to be a martyr. But it’s June, you’re 100% correct, this won’t make it into a classroom.

“Today class, we’ll look at the christian bible’s book of Genesis and its creation myth. We’ll refer back to our science class last week about life on Earth containing Carbon 14, and how it can be used to accurately date living things and how wrong the Genesis is. We’ll be comparing this to other creation myths such as the Greek and Norse versions.”

You don’t even have to go that far:

“Here’s a simple question… ‘Which came first? People? Or animals?’”

      Genesis 1 - Animals
      Genesis 2 - People

      🤔

Oh hey look an education official who is wildly unqualified for the position he is in and should be removed and banned from holding any position in education because it’s obviously clear that he is a fucking moron.

so tired of people who believe in magic being treated like sane, trustworthy adults. keep them out of positions of power and put them somewhere they can be treated and rehabilitated. not surprising for a state like Oklahoma, but fuckin christ these poor bastards need to find their bootstraps and figure out reality

Soooooo…. They’re just going to run right past separation of church and state and dive headlong straight into Christofascism….

Right in front of everyone watching, knowing there is nothing anyone will do about it.

It’s probably going to SCOTUS and it’s probably getting shot down (although who tf knows anymore). The big point for them is to embolden their base.

I’m going to guess they are going to skip over the part of the Bible that has a rabbi prescribe an abortion for an unfaithful wife.

Ban the gay agenda! Instead, read this story about Lot’s daughters getting him black out drunk so they could fuck him.

You gotta remember that some of these people are the same ones who complained that their Southern Baptist pastors were preaching “liberal talking points” (aka, things Jesus said). If teachers actually started reading the Bible in class, these same people would probably start calling it “liberal propaganda” and trying to ban it.

I’m just saying, the irony is so thick that you’d need a rock drill and some dynamite to cut it in half.

One thing about this that could get interesting is when the school leaders are different versions of the Christian/Catholic faith. Which Bible do you use? Which lessons do you incorporate? What about the trinity? Mary? The saints?

It would be fun to watch, ngl

As an Oklahoman, this dude is just sooooo fucking stupid. I’m not even saying that as an attack. Like he’s really really dumb and doesn’t comprehend basic logic/ideas
