    What makes maturation a terrible coping mechanism? It doesn’t hurt anyone including yourself.

      While your prostate will thank you, it’s an ‘unearned’ dopamine rush that convinces you that you did something good for the day. It can psychologically reinforce negative behavior and have you get complicit with your surroundings and make positive change harder. But that’s true for all coping.

        If masturbation was a negative thing, we likely wouldn’t have been inclined to do it. As far as I know, that unearned dopamine rush thing being bad is a bit of a myth.

      Wastes a lot of time if you do it a tone. And one can hurt themselves if they do it constantly (several hours a day?) and rub it raw.
