Reagan won so many states because Mondale was extremely unpopular. He was Carter’s VP, and Carter had been successfully painted as our weakest president by Republicans. Mondale also gave a speech where he said he would raise taxes.
TLDR: he’s fine, but the gunman was killed, along with a rally attendee and another person in critical condition.
