Edit: I ended up ordering one from Sparks. I’m going to review it here. Here’s the original question.

Original Question

I’m going to travel to Indonesia in 2 days and finding the appropriate sim card to use. I browsed the Internet and found buying 3hk SIM from mobimatter is the cheapest option. Is the SIM safe to use? Anyone else ever got a SIM from mobimatter?

My eSIM specs

Manufacturer: Sparks

Country: Indonesia

Capacity: 12GB

Available for: 30days

For how to activate the eSIM, please refer to the official documentation. Beware that you need to activate data roaming for Internet connection (it won’t cost you additional fees so don’t worry).

Review

My eSIM was connected to TSEL network and it showed LTE on the right top of my phone.

Result of speed test on internetspeed.my

Download (avg): 1.18 Mbps

Download (max): 2.45 Mbps

Upload (avg): 3.09 Mbps

Upload (max): 7.98 Mbps

Not fast, but not very slow.

It worked fine everywhere on Surabaya city. I’ve been in here for 2 weeks and I’ve already consumed 6.45GB (which is 0.43GB/day). Fortunately, I’m going to go back to my country in 4 days so it’s enough for me, and unless you watch videos outside, 12GB should be fine for everyone.

Tips

You can put mobimatter’s widget on your home screen to check the remaining data capacity.

Some Wifi in Indonesia restricts access to duckduckgo.com, so it’s recommended to use VPNs from trustable providers.

I thought their eSIMs are expensive compared to mobimatter’s
