That and maybe the denuvo.
The vast majority doesn’t care about it, which is why games still manage to sell record numbers with it in place.
In the trailers and screenshots for civ6, it looked far more realistic graphics than the actual gameplay, so despite seeing lots of cool looking things that are marketed as civ7, I still really have no idea what the game will actually look like.
Could be really good or completely destroy the franchise. I hope they know what they are doing.
Every time there’s a change to Civ people say it could completely destroy the franchise… We’re at number 7 now…
And they intentionally shake the gameplay up with each installment. I’m glad they do. Otherwise there’s little point in doing a new one
Yes, but this is a fundamental change to the formula far beyond anything before. It effectively resets the game twice during gameplay. In theory, it helps bound the complexity of the endgame. In practice we will have to see if it stays interesting or if it feels like it cheats you of all the work you’ve done.
Hint: if they are American devs in a big studio, the latter is more likely nowadays.
But civ (and rockstar) are take two’s money printers, even executives know not to fuck this series up (hopefully)
