I legitimately thought I only had to go to school one day on my first day of kindergarten. And to find out the were 13 more years of it was crushing, 13 years is an unfathomably long time for a 5 year old.

I don’t remember the whole thing, just that I was super pissed that:
        A) I didn’t learn how to be a “train driver” my first day.
        And
        B) I had to go back the next day

I’d say a new experience is more memorable. I remember things from those early years but the later years of elementary are gone from memory.

I still remember “graduating” from preschool. We made little graduation caps out of paper plates and bowls.

okay tbh I remember something like that too, but it’s more the pictures I saw later that I remember

Kindergarten was only a half day of class for me and I remember the despair when hearing 1st grade and onward was a full day. All that time and effort to become an adult that sits at a computer doing pointless bullshit
