For a pedal like the PD-M520 or the PD-M9100, I see the ± adjustment for tension but no mention of float in the online manual. I also don’t see any cleats for different floats like the SPD-SL

    The amount of float on MTB SPD pedals is also regulated by the tension. To increase the amount of float, you’ll need to decrease the tension.

    The SPD design is pretty old at this point, so this is one of its wrinkles.

      I see, so in order to increase float, I need to accept less tension/easier release since they to hand in hand. Thanks for the help.

    There ARE different cleats with different characteristics. The SH51s are the “standard” cleats while the SH56s are the “multi release” cleats. The SH56s do float a bit more, but they’re also designed to release if you yank up on them hard enough. I personally think they’re dangerous
