It’s fun, and well worth looking at if you like smash.

Stop Killing Games is an initiative to make live-service single player games or [where possible] multiplayer games have an end-of-life plan so they can be played after they shut down. Example given was The Crew, a single player game with live service elements that was fully shutdown and is entirely unplayable, and was removed from peoples’ libraries despite it being a paid game

Piratesoftware, who works for Offbrand Games, who made RoA2, made multiple statements calling the head of SKG both stupid (used multiple insults but boils down to stupid) and a bad faith actor. He also did not read the initiatives nor did he actually listen to any points made in the video about the initiative

Thanks, had heard about SKG, but didn’t know anything about the other part.

I really can’t imagine why. I had heard that name before, brought up very positively, so it’s a shame they actually a moron.

I looked it up, and wikipedia says this:

In June 2024, it was announced at IGN Live 2024 that Offbrand Games, a new game publisher founded by YouTube streamers Ludwig Ahgren and Jason “Thor” Hall of Pirate Software, would be assisting publishing the game as their first release.

So it looks more like Offbrand Games is the publisher, not the developer.
