I am really interested to know which people are on which instances. It would be cool to see that information below username on comments. Of course you can keep it hidden by default for simplicity sake. But give us an option to enable it.

This is a really good idea! Should be available on Lemmy’s web ui as well tbh. It can get confusing since people can have the same display names but come from different instances as well.

I like this as well. My preference is generally to use an app to something directly in browser. Since I started in Jerboa it took me a little bit longer to understand the cross site workings of lemmy.

You see me as @lemmy.today don’t you? That’s the instance name.

But maybe you just mean you want it displayed differently. :)

The lemmy-ui web interface displays the full username, including instance. This is the jerboa app community though, and jerboa just displays the name-part, omitting the instance. Jerboa even has a user-profile page which ALSO omits the instance there.

Some variant of this feels like a useful feature to me, but having gotten some validation here the best place to record it would be a github issue at https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa.

I don’t use github. Maybe someone else should consider taking app ideas from here and post it on github.

I also think it would be great if the app dev follows this community and take ideas from here.

The devs generally do follow this community for ideas but… and this may shock you… they’re a little busy right now with the size of the lemmy community doubling every three days. So there’s an increased chance at the moment of this suggestion scrolling off to oblivion.

It’s up to you how much work you want to do to advocate for your idea, posting a suggestion here is fine but risks scrolling off into history with no one noticing. Better is to create a github account and file a feature request there where it will remain until someone closes it or responds. Best would be to submit a PR with code that improves jerboa with your idea for review/merge. Not everyone can or will do all those things, but if you want to increase the chances of your idea happening… there are ways you can make extra effort to improve the odds if you wish.

You are absolutely right. I’ll do it.
