I have adhd and I’d much rather have ADHD than Parkinsons. Trouble thinking doesn’t cover it. It’s a movement disorder that causes pain and 24/7 restlessness along with dementia. No thank you.

Makes sense, actually; dopamine is highly implicated in both disorders. ADHD responds to stimulants because they increase dopamine. Unfortunately they can also cause psychosis in large enough doses (common problem with meth and cocaine use). Antipsychotics, which reverse the psychosis… cause pseudoparkinsonianism, or drug-induced Parkinsons. Not sure exactly how this part of the puzzle fits in, but I’ve definitely seen some other puzzle pieces from that corner, to extend the metaphor.

Yup, I think tardive diskenesia is the same thing. If you’ve seen old videos from asylums where the patients are twitching rather violently, that’s advanced tardive diskenesia.

More modern medicines don’t cause it to be as pronounced but it’s still an issue.

I’ve actually both had it and treated my patients for it!
