Liberal MP David Honey is raising the alarm about Perth Airport's free wi-fi policy, saying it's an invasion of privacy — and a digital rights expert agrees. But the airport says the terms and conditions are standard.
I’m guessing this is some kind of tech literacy barrier, because I’m certain the overwhelming majority of people in Australia have more than enough mobile data available to use their phone as a hotspot instead of relying on public Wi-Fi. “I’m in a public area and want to use the internet, therefore I should connect to public Wi-Fi” is like decades out of date logic.
An international airport is like the one place where I might connect to a public wifi. Maybe I’ve just landed and don’t have a local SIM yet? Or could be I’m on a stopover and only here for a few hours?
Just don’t use airport wifi if you travel within the country

I’ve only ever noticed it with international travel, but haven’t done that in a while so things could’ve changed in that situation as well.

This is why I stressed “within the country”
