If both sides are the same, can we at least veer a little bit away from fascism? Hint: both sides are not the same. Your vote for democracy does matter.

          You are!

Don’t just vote - go out on the streets and demand that the Dems condemn the genocide and to stop sending military aid to Israel if they actually want your vote!

If you won’t risk having your rights taken away on the grounds of literal genocide - what would you risk them for?

Some of my rights have already been taken away under the current Supreme Court and I’m not willing to risk the rights of myself and others for the sake of some self-righteous quest.

Finally, I respect you for going mask off - you’re not willing to lose your freedom for somebody outside your country - you believe your lives cost more than theirs and doing anything that puts you at risk is not worthwhile.

We can’t completely dismantle the system in a week so what else can we do right now?

Have you tried taking direct action against weapon manufacturers? Going to Harris rallies and calling her out for supporting genocide? Convincing others to take drastic measures instead of just voting for the lesser evil? Those are small things that actually help dismantle the system - voting doesn’t.

Right, because the alternative somehow isn’t “genocide, but also you lose even more of what little power you still have over this supposed democracy.”

Even if this election doesn’t let us end the genocide, one option is actively threatening to use military force against political dissidents, which tends to make it even harder to push for a change in foreign policy.

Damn, I can’t wait to hear about all the things you’re doing to try and actually end the abominable genocide against the people of Palestine. Meanwhile the rest of us are looking for ways to do that and also voting against the guy who promised to double-down and bring the violence home against immigrants.

Pretending Trump’s presidency wouldn’t be objectively worse for all the causes leftists care about, even the ones (like Palestine) Harris isn’t going to do shit about isn’t taking a principled stand. It’s hiding from what little power you have in the electoral system in order to keep whatever happens next off your conscience. And frankly, the Palestinians don’t care about your conscience any more than the Hispanic Americans or trans kids.

Probably busy campaigning to fix electoral college/first past the post. I am certain they were not just empty words.

At least the Republican backed genocide will also be making life living hell for LGBTQI people, women, and migrants in the US as well.

There is no greater evil than someone that supports and actively does a genocide. Hitler didn’t start out killing Jews.

Palestinians. No, but he wouldn’t be worse. It doesn’t get worse than genocide. Period. There is no lesser evil.

If you believe your life, your rights are worth the mass slaughter of another population, it’s not.

People come to a meme community and expect a deep, well-reasoned essay on the state of things and the best ways forward from one captioned image :-\ Is there not a dichotomy between nuance and memes?

The comments around here are just wild flailings based mostly on assumptions. There’s nothing to argue with. It’s a picture with some text on it, popularized as the simplest form of humour. Looking at the comments around here now feels like watching a bunch of people arguing with a dog. There’s really not so much being said.

This is kinda baffling, is what I’m getting at. It looks like almost nothing’s been said so people are furiously attacking things that haven’t. 🤷

For real. It happens constantly. There’s a lot of sealions out there who take the existence of a meme as an invite to a debate.
