Fun fact, in history the Samaritans were widely disliked. The term Good Samaritan actually means “All of the others are bad but this one is okay”

Uh, not really. In the story, a Jew gets injured and multiple Jews pass by without helping. Samaritans are enemies to the Jews, but the good Samaritan helps. A good Samaritan is someone that has no reason to help but still does out the goodness of their heart.

I might have assumed people’s interpretation but a lot of people seem to think that all Samaritans are perceived as good and a good Samaritan is one of them. For example in this cartoon they just use the phrase Samaritan when they mean a good person.

Also I don’t see the distinction between “the Samaritans are enemies of the Jews but this one helps” and “the others (Samaritans) are bad but this one is okay”
