In day-to-day life and maybe even in family situations?
How to ADHD by Jessica McCabe is the best I’ve seen so far. It has sections geared towards neurotypical people. Her YouTube channel is pretty good too.
+1 for her book. Recommended that the neurological watch a Russell Barkley lecture or presentation as well
My wife bought me ADHD is Awesome by Kim and Penn Holderness. It does a good job of describing how Penn’s brain works differently and how he and his wife have learned to accommodate it successfully.
Side note, it’s tough for me to sit down and read so I’m slowly making my way through it to learn how to best manage myself. But from what I’ve read so far, I’ve had many AHA moments I’ve shared with my family or “this is me!”
My wife preordered it for me but I still haven’t read it. I actually used to work with Kim (not closely) at a TV station and Penn worked at a different station in the market. I had no idea they were married until their first video went viral (she used a different last name professionally). I was glad to see them on The Amazing Race and that was the first time I’d heard of hyperfocus, in retrospect the first hint to me about my ADHD.
I always find those moments to be SO validating for me.
Too bad the book has an inaccurate title.
New Lemmy Post: Has anyone had any luck finding and recommending any books geared toward helping Neurotypical people understand how to interact with us Neurodivergents? (https://lemmyverse.link/lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/30400945)
