I just saw an article that said: can the pst pro run elde ring at 60 fps? What the fuck, the ps5 can’t do that? What is even the point then? Maybe i’m hallucinating, because i have seen maybe one or two ps5 in stores, but doesn’t it have some pretentious 8k ready sticker or something on it?

DF tested it and no, The PS5 Pro can’t run Elden Ring at 60 FPS. Also ye the whole 8K thing is infuriating not even the RTX 4090 can do 8K reliably

        FULL 8K 60Hz READY’*"

' neural network upscaled from 480p

        * neural network upscaled from 10 fps

" you don’t own a fucking 8K display, stop kidding yourself. If you did it would look the same as a 4K display but take 4 times as much energy to run

You will need to pay at least twice as much for a PC if you want games to run as nice as they do on PS5

Maybe, but you’d have to have more than a dozen exclusive titles for that to matter much compared to the thousands available for PC.

It did not matter to me when I was buying PS5 last year, so that’s not a general rule

What did matter, however, was the PS Plus collection. I you don’t want to sail under Jolly Roger, that’s a huge factor

Even if you build your PC with PS5 equivalents, you are most likely to pay at least a bit more for the whole package, and - most importantly - games still won’t run as smooth as they do on PS5.

Console games are optimized to work best specifically with their hardware

True. How much are games on the ps5 and how much do you pay to be allowed to play online?

That’s another thing, yes - games are more pricy, cannot be pirated and there’s no third party websites for buying keys for cheap.

That being said, you can still buy games on discs and later resell them. That way you basically play for free if you buy used and resell for the same price.

I’m also a big fan of Playstation Plus

Tbh, most people would drop more than the price difference on clothes that they will never wear. Just look at the new car market. Hardly anyone buys the cheap model, so for a couple of hundred bucks, I don’t think anyone really cares about this. If they have the disposable income, they will probably just buy the pro because of the perception that they are buying the best.

Like all the people who didn’t need an iPhone 16 Pro Max because they already had an iPhone 15 Pro Max? People out there are buying millions dollar properties to stay empty. Sony wouldn’t have even created it unless there was a market for it

Of course they do, but let’s unpack that.

When people buy a new car who already have one, they generally do it because either 1. they think it will bring some material benefit over their old car, or 2. they want a new car simply for vanity reasons.

Looking at the PS5 Pro, there will absolutely be people who think “I want to upgrade to the Pro just for bragging rights” but I’m pretty sure the majority of consumers wil simply think “This doesn’t play any games my PS5 can’t already” and pass on it.

So you agree that there are people out there with disposable income who will buy the pro for that 10 extra games. I think it’ll be 1 in 4 PlayStation owners just like the PS4 Professional . I never said majority.

It was the only last gen console to run Cyberpunk 2077 with a stable framerate. First party exclusives made good use of it too.

It was wider, longer, and those bars were about the same size, but the pro was 3 instead of 2 compared to the original non slim.

The implied uncertainty was the noise part. Neither was enough to really pay attention to in a living room type environment, so I have no idea.
