hello im a young adult and ive been wanting to sell/make money but i stink at everything and i have autism which makes things harder for me. etsy looks so cool, but they seem really overcrowed how are you even suppose to stand out on etsy?

ive know a few people who tried selling on etsy but they all failed and im afraid i might also fail, also etsy costs money to post on. are there alternatives or is etsy the best, also do you have any tips or something you would like to share about etsy?

also are there better places to post this at?

You may want to try the Facebook app or their webpage in your browser.

I doubt you suck at everything.

You could look into things like reselling stuff from Ali Express. A FreeMCBoot memory card for the PS2 costs about $2.50 but you could probably resell it for $10 to someone locally who doesn’t want to wait on shipping. It obviously depends on the demand so I wouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Maybe buying electronics from Facebook marketplace and cleaning them to resell.

Maybe you could do something with clothing? Tie dye perhaps? Maybe even just sewing on some cool patches you find online.

It all really depends on what your interests are.

If you don’t know what to sell yet that’s your first problem to sort. If you make things as a hobby you could do that, but if not you might want to see if your community has any neurospicey support groups. They can find jobs that you enjoy, provide some training, and help with the admin side of things. Places like repair cafes, small stores, quiet sorting at donation stations. Clear rules and environments with accommodations made for overstimulation or communication support.

It might end up less stressful and more fulfilling than trying to set up your own shop.

Reselling stuff gets a bit wishywashy ethically and it can be super stressful to invest in an inventory and then have to resell to get your money back (+profits). Do you have a special interest? Mine is plants so I do gardening, forestry, forestry, and horticulture jobs. I’m not great with people because I have a hard time with facial expressions and tones but it’s mostly independent, just me and plants

I’m not sure how your area is, but CRT TV’s are starting to gain popularity for retro gaming and they’re all over the sides of the roads in some places, especially right after Christmas. They generally just need a fuse replaced to work, which is a really simple and cheap issue to solve. I dunno the logistics of shipping those monsters, but if you sell locally it probably wouldn’t be an issue.

you make some good points, i might look into trying to find some old tvs or salvaging tech or something.

When you first make a Facebook account it won’t let you access the marketplace, to keep people from spamming it I guess. Not sure why it won’t let you on there still, unless you need to verify your account or something
