I wonder how much of that is a “shy tory” effect, where people feel more free to give honest opinions now or something. I also wonder how different the results would be if more specific questions were asked. The term DEI has been absorbed into the culture wars like Critical Race Theory and people tend to have an instinctive reaction. Kind of like how progressive and leftist policies are quite popular if you poll people about specifics, but if you say “Universal Basic Income” or the like, people tend to turn their thinkers off.
