Summary

Immigrant advocates fear children will face severe hardships under Trump’s second term, citing potential policies like reinstating family separations, mass deportations, and reduced protections for migrant youth.

Trump officials may target laws like the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, limiting asylum options for unaccompanied minors.

Advocates also worry about renewed efforts to end DACA, threatening deportation for over 500,000 recipients.

Experts warn these actions could cause lasting psychological harm to children and families, exacerbating trauma across generations.

“It’s about the law,” say the people who just elected a multiple-convicted felon to the highest office in the country.

Hitler rose to power during the great depression. Deporting immigrants will push us towards a depression. Which is to say, I think Trump sees cruelty as a means towards authoritarianism. Yes, his base is cruel and hateful. But I think Trump’s agenda runs much deeper.

I know a guy who was brought to the US illegally as a teen and is now in his 30s. Works as a contractor and started his own business. Truly one of the nicest and most generous people I know. Pays taxes, employs people, and does everything we do but he just isn’t officially a citizen. He married an American and they have an 8 year old son who adores him. I hate thinking about the turmoil and sadness him being deported would cause his wife and son.

People can’t see how transparently pointless and harmful to the country this whole obsession with “illegals” has become. You don’t need to be a philosopher to see that it’s just plain evil.

It harkens back to the fact that human beings are nothing more than apes. Moral turpitude is on a spectrum, like all malignancies, and while 5% are fully psychopathic, a solid 30% of people are, for all practical purposes, incapable of abstract moral reasoning.

Policy shift? Where did it shift from?
