You just want to do as little as possible and expect everyone to your left (and only your left) to be satisfied with it forever.

ACA was 15 years ago, and was a half measure even then. The minimum wage last went up 15 years ago.

And standing in your own way is what centrists do. It’s why the half measure you’re still trying to coast on doesn’t have a public option.

What are you doing other than bitching about the opposition party on Lemmy? Genuinely curious.

        I think it’s this:

        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_fallacy

The nirvana fallacy is the informal fallacy of comparing actual things with unrealistic, idealized alternatives. It can also refer to the tendency to assume there is a perfect solution to a particular problem. A closely related concept is the “perfect solution fallacy”.

By creating a false dichotomy that presents one option which is obviously advantageous—while at the same time being completely unrealistic—a person using the nirvana fallacy can attack any opposing idea because it is imperfect. Under this fallacy, the choice is not between real world solutions; it is, rather, a choice between one realistic achievable possibility and another unrealistic solution that could in some way be “better”.

It is also related to the appeal to purity fallacy where the person rejects all criticism on basis of it being applied to a non ideal case.

What are you doing apart from demanding that people be satisfied with less just because you want them to have less?

It’s okay, man, you’re not alone. Most people don’t do anything. Civic disengagement is kind of the status quo anymore.

Centrists sure get mad when they think people are following the example set by their legislators.

I’m not angry and I’m certainly not a centrist. All I wanna know is what you’re doing to justify taking the moral high ground. Seeing an obvious problem (the DNC is a dumpster fire) doesn’t get you points with anyone.

If all you do is post, you’re just noise. Do you participate in any kind of direct action? Do you volunteer? Are you advocating for anything, or are you just venting?

Hmmm. Let’s see. I didn’t repeatedly vote to support an apartheid regime that is actively committing genocide. Democrats did. I didn’t cast the deciding vote to double child poverty overnight. A Democrat did. I didn’t vote against raising the minimum wage. 8 Democrats voted with Republicans to make sure the workers they hate continue to suffer.

If all you do is post, you’re just noise.

                If I’m noise, ignore me.

Do you participate in any kind of direct action? Do you volunteer?

It’s not like anything I do will be enough for you. I’ve been down this road before. The reply is always an indignant “is that all?” You’re trying to shift blame from the elected officials and party leaders with whom it actually lies to one individual who has the temerity to criticize. If I’m not using every waking second and every penny I earn in a fruitless attempt to steer the party leftward, you will use that as an excuse to demand my silence regarding the rightward shift of a party that is hell bent on becoming the Second Republican Party.

Are you advocating for anything, or are you just venting?

You don’t care in any event; you just want permanent silence of all voices to the left of party leadership.
