Summary

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell criticized two Democratic-appointed judges for reversing their retirement plans after President-elect Trump’s victory, accusing them of partisan tactics to block Republican judicial appointments.

McConnell called the moves unprecedented and warned of potential ethics complaints.

He also argued this undermines a recent bipartisan deal on judicial confirmations.

Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin countered, citing McConnell’s 2016 decision to block Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court nomination as an example of GOP gamesmanship.

“you would never nominate a respectable (lmao) moderate like Garland!”

      “Ok, I nominate Garland.”

YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO DO THAT! NO WE CAN’T ACCEPT HIM, IT’S TOO CLOSE TO AN ELECTION!

Slightly dramatic recreation of actual events. Fuck the dishonest GOP bullshit.

(That was almost a full year before the 2016 election… RGB dies the month before the 2020 election and Mitch McDemonturtle pushes her replacement through.)

Sadly, he’s not. And you can absolutely believe there’s going to be some kind of legal or legislative action intended to force them out so Trump can replace them. Given the success rate of conservative judicial maneuvers, I wouldn’t even be surprised if it worked.

I remember going to a cabin with some friends and playing one of those icebreaker games with a deck of cards full of “thought-provoking” questions. I got something like “what would you do with an infinite supply of money?”

My response? I would positively haunt Mitch McConnell until the day he died. I would hire any and every person needed to completely saturate that goblin’s life with fuckery. He would lose all faith in everything, all sense of safety. I would build teams, departments, and institutions dedicated to knowing his every move and subverting his will at Every. God. Damned. Turn.

His eyeglasses would disappear daily. Every haircut he got would fuck his shit up. Every pizza he ordered would be a box of spiders. There wouldn’t be a bite of food crossing his lips that didn’t have pee in it, or worse. He would shit himself in public because every restroom within a mile would be occupied, blockaded, or on fire. I would never injure him irreparably or kill him. In fact, I would ensure he was as healthy as possible. I would want to prevent him from escaping for as long as possible. I would be the ruin of his joy.

So yeah, that broke the ice.

Yeah, basically just point this out any time McConnell says anything and he loses the argument

Still 42 open seats that Biden is giving trump, but McTurtle over here losing his shit over two that aren’t empty yet…

Republicans are fucking terrible, but at least their politicians fight.

Meanwhile we just went with Schumer again despite him doing a complete shit job at it.

Shit job? Schumer got McConnell to help him by offering two circuit court vacancies that no longer exist.

As a result, Biden is on track to confirm more judges than Trump did.

And I hope he proves me wrong and there isn’t a single vacancy when he hands the keys over…

But I’m certainly not expecting it.
