Is there an article someone could point to that explains how kbin, lemmy.ml, lemmy.world etc. all relate to one another?
For example do I need an account with both kbin and lemmy, or are they just different names for the same thing?
Can I subscribe to a lemmy.world ‘channel’ with my kbin account?
Still trying to work things out.
This only happens if the instance on which you’re posting has defderated from your instace. So, you can see posts and comments on that instance, but people on that instance can’t see posts or comments from your instance, including your own posts.
This is what asymetric defederation does.

Okay, so I guess sh.itjust.works is defederated, and I should join an instance that plays along.

Yep… though I don’t know what we did to piss beehaw’s people off, but yeah, join an instance that won’t get “in trouble” (whatever that means) and won’t star defederating from other instances. Preferably, choose a smaller instance, the don’t have as many active users, to reduce load on the other instances.
I’m seeing your comment as a sh.itjust.works user. As far as I know kbin.social hasn’t defederated from my server in any way. This sh.itjust.works for me
