    They totally misspelled “years of ongoing underfunding for post-secondary education”.

    Not sure how that got past the editor.

    But my Conservative/Indian co-workers say the international students are the cause of the housing crisis… So this is good, right??

      There were 20,000 additional students in my city of barely 200k.

      It definitely didn’t help by giving parasitic landlords even more of an excuse to raise rent by double on dilapidated, unmaintained, properties they never planned on repairing.

      New tenants every 6-8 months with no legal recourse was a dream come true.

      About the schools themselves, I have no clue how they were able to function so well before (*the sudden surge of international students) are now on the verge of collapse.

      Maybe it’s got something to do with more and more corporate style boards.

        The surge didn’t happen for no reason, it was due to massive funding cuts that left schools with no other means of generating the income they needed to support their domestic students.

        We used to subsidize them a lot more for Canadian students (sort of, the amount was reduced then increases slowed)
