Once I was traveling along Lake Superior visiting beaches I hadn’t stopped at before and I came upon a local woman fishing with a little boy who I assume was her son. He came over while I was taking pics and started chatting in a friendly manner like kids do, mainly about fishing and hunting. Then he proudly describes that someday he will get his dad’s big knife, his “Mexican killing knife”. Now first off I’m like WTF, why are you so chipper about stabbing Mexicans? Second, the population up there is super low and like 90+% white, and I doubt that kid has met a legit Mexican person in his life. Third, his mother(?) didn’t react at all to this bizarre declaration so obviously it wasn’t abnormal for her to hear. I think about him when I see videos of bigot rallies.
My sibling watches a bunch of far right stuff and listens to racist white people rap music. One of their kids is half Malaysian, talks about all lives matter, and sings from memory the racist songs. They’re too young to realize and it’s shocking how innocently they’ll parrot stuff that is targeting themselves
