Because I’m sick of seeing the same trite “how is this satire” comments every time I post in this community, I’ve decided to start including the definition for everyone:

    The satire is the fact that The Onion has a “form letter” for school shootings. The just change the names and numbers, but otherwise the article is exactly the same.

    The satire is that this highlights the gruesome regularity that school shootings occur in America.

    BTW satire is not always supposed to be funny. In my opinion the best satire is not funny.

      Thankyou. When I asked the question, I was not aware that The Onion repeatedly posted this and it was too realistic for the Onion’s usual take on things.

      I also agree that satire doesn’t need to be funny.
