Good thing there’s more than one instance to use!

Yea, I’m actually planning out launching my own instance for these exact kinda oddities.

Though, I do know why it’s in place, and it’s for a very good reason. I just find it kinda funny and maybe a light prod to the admins to make an adjustment on its aggressiveness

And as a Professional Memeologist™️ it’s my duty to make a meme about it

These are the moments I would like to be able to give awards on lemmy. Not necessarily for money (although it might help support the fediverse), just nice little appreciation icons to glorify.

I’d rather have a filter that is a little bit too strict when it’s about CSAM. I mean the moderators and admins need to view and moderated that content otherwise, also there is the legal problem the fediverse has with instant federation.
They probably use some AI model, not really being able to adjust how strict it behaves…

lemmy.world has an illegal content image scanner that is really aggressive the point where if the image has any innocent words relating to children, like parenthood, it’ll get rejected

That’s why I had to twirl the parenthood word in my meme, it wouldn’t upload any other way

Oh that’s weird, so you couldn’t have a meme talking about your childhood at the moment for example?

Nope, or a meme talking about a parent moment either, as I found out yesterday with my parenting meme, which led to this meme lol

there was a meme recently where the OP had to censor out “parenthood” because the filter kept flagging it

This I find absolutely hilarious for no good reason whatsoever, also I get the meme for which I give thanks. Forgive me, it’s 3AM and I am in a somewhat deplorable state.

Trust me, this is a small price to pay compared to the alternative of even one single such illegal image sneaking through in a big community.

… what illegal images are you going to catch, scanning for words?

It’s not scanning for words. It’s a neural network and it’s scanning for potential csam. There’s false positives

Including when it detects words, which apparently it can do without scanning.

Yes, it’s not seeing the word, but the shape of the word (and the look of the flower) potentially tells it has some sort of child context and it also sees lewd context in it as well from your other words.

That’s seeing the word. Neural networks can in fact detect words. Have done since the 80s.

This hair-splitting is pointless and bizarre.

Demonstrably - the robot blocks certain words, as if words could be child pornography.

I’m just trying to explain how it works and how it’s not actually reading the words you write. You seem to be combative about it for some reason.

The bot sees the whole image, including the flower drawing and the other words. It figures out the weights for lewd and for underage idependently and if the weights exceed some thresholds, it rejects the image.

‘Why would it scan for words?’ ‘No it doesn’t.’ Yeah can’t imagine why this interaction feels tense.

The word parenthood isn’t exceptionally boob-shaped. It’s being caught for its semantic relations. That is an absurdity on the part of the filter: it excludes words vaguely related to children.

The weight for any word should be nil.
