They’ve always been this way. One time I got a temp ban on their forum (I don’t think that’s around any longer) and it showed the message “you are banned for x days! Go play outside or do something else” accompanied by a clown and its huge nutsack swinging on the screen. I’m not sure why people expect them to change all of a sudden, it’s part of their appeal.
