Simply put, in the builds I’ve made for people I have always warned for the potential danger that the 4090 brings, while I don’t mind building it, I won’t be responsible if their GPU ends up melting.

Most didn’t feel like it was worth the risk (and honestly most didn’t actually need it).

However with the new lineup I have someone who wants the 5090, obviously other than the higher TDP and price with the same power connector we know nothing.

Would it be logical to assume additional safety features have been developed to keep this from happening, or should we assume that anything that has to do with said connector under high loads can cause issues?

I know it’s early, but I really don’t want to be the guy that gets called when someone’s GPU has a literal meltdown.
