The European Commission rejected on Wednesday Meta (META.O), opens new tab chief Mark Zuckerberg’s assertion that European Union data laws censored social media and said they only required large platforms to remove illegal content.
Meta Platforms scrapped its U.S. fact-checking programs and its CEO said he would work with President-elect Donald Trump to push back on censorship around the world.
Sounds like a miscommunication issue, Zuck is saying “censorship” and EU is saying “we remove shit that’s illegal”. And they’re talking about the same stuff.
Zuck and trump want the EU to change their laws about what’s illegal.
And the EU is telling them to fuck off, as is tradition
