how the hell do I block an artist on @spotify - they’re showing up more and more and I just skip their songs, but… I don’t want to listen to them, Spotify. Stop… just stop.
Go to the artist’s profile
Open the three dot menu near the follow button
Select “Don’t play this artist”
@squirrel I actually found this, but it’s only on the mobile app and not on the desktop.

One gotcha is that you have to block them on the mobile app. As far as I know, there’s no way to block an artist from the web or the desktop app. But as the other commenter said, it’s in the 3 dots menu on the artists profile page
@FlickOfTheBean yeah, I actually found it on mobile. That’s where I got confused.
I don’t hate the artist, I just… don’t want to listen to their stuff and for some reason Spotify has been jamming them into everything.
Yeah, sometimes the algorithm is just so certain you want to listen to this one particular band that the only thing you can do to get it to stop playing them every other song is to block them for a few months (or however long the ad campaign causing this has revenue for). It doesn’t seem to last forever, thankfully.
