    True story: I’ve heard a few idiots trying to tell me that it’s how they say “hello” in the USA. I’m not American but I’m sure that I’ve never seen anyone saying hello like that in the movies.

      Lifelong USAian, it’s never ever been how we say hello, it’s always been how you say “Hello, I’m a Nazi.”

      Born and bred middle-aged American here, who’s lived in all four corners: nobody uses this to say “hello” except for Nazis.

      Lived in the states for a while, saw zero nazi salutes. Maybe no one actually said hello to me the entire time, sob.

      They are, in fact, idiots. There is an outstretched arm hello to people driving by, but there is zero fucking chance this nazi salute is it.
