NFL replay assist is expected to expand this offseason into plays that could include the quarterback slide, sources told ESPN.

    Beginning in 2024, the league expanded replay assist to add additional areas in which information could be provided when there was a penalty flag already on the field, including fouls for hits heading out of bounds, fouls for blows to the head of a quarterback

    So what I’m getting from this is that the two most egregious calls that Mahomes got his usual gift for could have been overturned under current league rules? So why didn’t replay assist chime in for either?

      As far as I’ve seen penalties have never been able to be challenged or reviewed to see if they were correctly called. Seems like they’re going to make that a possibility for “replay assist” to take a look at. Hopefully it doesn’t end up like the pass interference challenging rule that they added a few years back when the officials overwhelmingly decided to ignore by just staying with the call on the field.
