Had nearly all the parts lying around, so I put this thing together.

I wanted to add stereo speakers, but it’s hard to find good wiring diagrams for such a niche thing. So, mono for now.

The motherboard has a bad cartridge slot. So I designed and printed a custom speaker holder that fits into the cartridge slot. All pressure fitted, no glue.

Everything works so far. Just waiting for a new shoulder button/SD slot cable, so I can finish it up and load up some GBA games. :)

Sure! Might be a few weeks, since I’m waiting for the part to come in.

That’s awesome ! As a tinkerer myself I love to see these kind of projects come to life. Do you know of other communities that are about DIY ?

Thanks! It’s really satisfying to get it done and see these things work. And I kind of like the cobbled-together look of things like this.

I don’t know of any DIY communities, but I also haven’t looked really hard, to be honest.

Quick Google search says dsi is not compatible with gba games… I hate to ruin your fun, but it was there when i googled it, on a Nintendo page

Do a little more digging on non-Nintendo pages and you’ll learn more about console modding.

Maybe they mean emulating them? (Not super knowledgable on this subject)
