Idk if it even fits in this community, but here we gooo
This stick of ram has been my emotional support stick of ram for almost a decade. It’s traveled with me around the world, and been in my backpack through tough times.
Since it’s so old and only 4GB, i can’t really use it or sell it, which is why i turned it into a knife. It’s surprisingly sharp, and short enough that the airlines in my country allow it in carry-on and checked luggage, so it can still be my travel companion
The hardwaregoriest thing I saw in person was Intel 486 chip with a hole on a keychain, with legs sawed off. RAM shank is way more classy.
I dunno if it’s gorier but I keep a Ryzen 5 3600 on my desk as a fidget toy.
You have a real gift for framing.
I’m still putting in work with one of these bad boys. Best 80 bucks ever
I recently upgraded to a 5800x3d which is pretty killer for gaming. AM4 is a very nice platform. I didn’t scrap this cpu on purpose, it just kinda stuck to the heatsink and I accidentally sent it flying when I detached it. 💀
I’ve been slowly but surely upgrading, I was rocking rocking a stock cooler, and a 1050ti for a minute, finally got a good card and a new PSU/cooler, working my way towards the am5 board and one of those 3d cpus, and I’m going to use this current equipment as a home server. Been trying to get it done on sbcs, and it just always had minor quirks in performance I was never happy with. Hoping this will do the trick
Eh, it has no moving parts, unless you break off some.
They’re very satisfying to spin.
I did the same with a 386 back in the day. Drilling that bastard was remarkably difficult.
A buddy of mine converted the fan and part of the heatsink from a Radeon 9800 Pro, at one point the fastest consumer GPU on the planet, to a hippie daisy decoration for his little dragon statue on his desk to hold.
I don’t know what he did with the rest of the card.
I have 2 AMD k6 300mhz chips. I tried to do that to one of them and never was able to get it finished. They are both just sitting in a bag in the back of a drawer somewhere so it’s not like it mattered either way
Make a pair of earrings from them!
I have an Intel i7 7500u laptop cpu, so maybe I should try to make a pendant
I desoldered that cpu from a dead laptop
