The tragedy comes less than a month after the start of his presidency and just days after the Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense. The Federal Aviation Administration is, at the moment, leaderless.

Michael Whitaker assumed the post in 2023 and announced his intention to resign back in December following Trump’s victory. Whitaker was a vocal critic of SpaceX and had chastised Elon Musk’s space program for skirting safety regulations. The only way to bring them to heel, he said, was to levy massive fines. Musk told him to resign from the FAA in a post on X. Whitaker did just that, leaving his post on January 20.

    Stop fucking resigning…

They want people to resign because feds are hard to fire without reasons.

That’s an intentional thing to prevent administrations from politicizing government service. You’re not fighting by resigning, you’re getting out of the way so the fascists get what they want.

That’s easy to say when you’re not in that position. Who knows how many threats they’ve received for themselves and their loved ones too. This is a mob ran world we’re talking about (not hyperbole),

You shouldn’t assume what position anyone is in.

But historically we know what happens when people resign…

Well, I do at least, are you aware what happened with the KKK in the South and why the majority of Southern politicians went from Black to white?

It wasn’t good for the families of the people who resigned or anyone else of that group.

Not all of them resigned. Many were killed. I don’t disagree with your general point, but the southern leadership is stained in blood, not just from giving up. Tulsa, Wilmington, plenty more.

A Million Americans died, bad, choking on their own fluids, many unable to touch or be near their families when they passed, due to a purposefully sandbagged and inept Federal Global Pandemic response. You don’t make people like Pete Hegseth the head of the DOD, or Tulsi Gabbard the DNI, if you want a functioning Christofascist state, you do it specifically for the chaos so you can steal everything that’s not nailed down, and for the nation and the world when interfunctioning organs of state are disrupted, then people die.

Welcome to Trump 2.0 tagline “It’ll be so many more dead people this time, you won’t believe it”
