The Ijen volcano complex is a group of composite volcanoes located on the border between Banyuwangi Regency and Bondowoso Regency of East Java, Indonesia. It is known for its blue fire, acidic crater lake, and labour-intensive sulfur mining.

i’ve been there once. afaik those miners are not really employed by any entity just locals mining them to sell anywhere they can sell it to hence the lack of proper equipment and its not really an industry designated place.
someone in my group purchased them for Rp 20.000 (roughly $1.2 usd) a kg of raw sulfur. idk what they intend to use it for.
