Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday U.S. President Donald Trump will hold off on levying tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days after Canada made a series of commitments to improve security along the border.

The country can let out a collective sigh of relief — at least for now.

To get Trump to shelve his punishing tariffs, Trudeau said Canada is reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel and stepping up its co-ordination with American officials to stop the flow of fentanyl.

We caved, and now that orange asshole is pushing for access to our banks.

    Motherfucker.

Until this point, Trump has framed the threatened tariffs as a way to hit back at Canada for the ongoing trade deficit and supposed inaction on drugs and migrants crossing the northern border into the U.S. — his stated concerns about banking fairness are a new development.

He basically just got “solutions” (read: cheap theatre) to two completely imaginary problems. The banking thing is nonsense that he made up and US banks don’t even want.

Trump caved, Trump lost. It was pretty apparent he was caving earlier today when the White House starting calling this whole thing a misunderstanding – and when Mexico agreed to do something they’ve already been doing for two years so Trump could spin it as a win.

So if the banking thing is nonsense why did he bring it up twice?

He is dumb as a bag of nails, but when he tells you what he wants, believe him.

He also said that Canada is unfair and doesn’t take US agricultural products:

The United States is Canada’s largest agricultural trading partner, buying 59.2 percent of Canadian exports and supplying 57.0 percent of Canadian imports. In addition, Canada is also the leading agricultural trade partner of the United States, when exports and imports are combined. USDA

It’s nonsense. He’s just making shit up. US Banks are already here doing what they want to do here: lending and investment. He’s talking about having branches for personal banking. It’s seriously just some bullshit he made up.
