Pretty sure that’s a kid, not sure if you should be looking at your kids in green and red flags.

Why do you think it’s a kid? Why would an adult like the one in the comic be so eager to wipe food off a kid’s cheeks?

I thought it was a kid at first, had to reread a couple times to understand what’s happening. Even then I’m not too sure what the cheek thing is.

Maybe it’s because the character looks like a literal child. And, yes, that would make it a bad comic. So, I agree with your interpretation.

And I still think it’s a bad comic.

To everyone downvoting the people who thought it was a child at first: Crop out the first cell in the comic and send it to all your friends and ask, is this a drawing of a child or an adult on a date?

Relax, no one is obliged to agree with anyone. You thought it was a kid, I disagree. I didn’t think it was a kid, you disagree. We each decide whether to give upvote or downvote to the post and go on with our lives.

And my question was legit, with no malicious intent. It really didn’t cross my mind that it was a kid, but anyway…

My reply was written while perfectly calm, with no malicious intent. 🤷

My last paragraph was added as an edit when looking at Jax’s comment and seeing it was downvoted into oblivion. It wasn’t directed at you.

Look at the chairs, the chair practically dwarfs her.

Not to mention, why would an adult eat like they’ve forgotten where their mouth is?

Ya’ll can downvote me, you’re wrong.

I have never eaten with an adult that is so messy that spaghetti is thrown across the table, no. I have eaten with children that messy, though.

Fella, you’re taking a obviously hyperbolic (exaggerated) comic to face value… Of course no adult eat like that, and that’s kinda the punchline of the comic.

You’ve missed the joke. It’s that spaghetti is messy to eat, exaggerated for comic effect to show this date is particularly messy.

But judging by your other comment you seem set more that this comic is telling the tale of some one who’s adopted a child and finding out said child hurls their spaghetti around.

Both of the chairs are extremely simplistically drawn, and are both just full backed chairs that go up to each person’s shoulders.

The last two panels are the same perspective, just reversed, and both people are basically the same size and height.

… they could both be kids, or both adults, or one is a very large child and the other is a diminuitive adult.

The chairs do not evidence your claim.

Frankly, the art style is fairly obviously modled after animal crossing humans, the whole idea is that its kind of a chibi take on young adults in terms of body frame shape, head/body proportions, with no obvious way to determine age beyond extreme age indicated by stylized wrinkles and smile lines.

To add to the other reply to you : if it was a child you’d assume the person in the comic is the parent in which case they would know if their child is a messy eater or not. Everything points to this being a first date with adult humans

Yep, there are no circumstances in which an adult will be eating with a child for the first time (older than a 6 year old).

None, they don’t exist! Adoption doesn’t exist, orphans don’t exist, there are quite literally no circumstances in which this can be a child.

        Exhausting.

Never before in the history of comics has a mild attribute or action or characteristic been depicted visually in an exagerated manner.

          Certainly not for comic effect.

          Heavens no, never!
